O Tesouro da Análise de Pappus de Alexandria

Este trabalho propõe apresentar um dos últimos matemáticos da Grécia antiga, Pappus de Alexandria, sua obra Coleção Matemática com seus sete livros chegando até nós que, tudo indica, eram notas de aula para o ensino das matemáticas da antiguidade, englobando astronomia, ótica, aritmética, geometria, filosofia, mecânica, entre outras. Além disso, mostrar as obras que ele teve acesso e utilizou para escrever, reorganizar e completar toda a matemática antiga composta de mais de cinquenta estudiosos citados por ele e de nove séculos de conhecimento ‘grego’. Em um segundo momento trazer alguns comentários feitos por ele, em seus prefácios, que mostram que alguns problemas didáticos são históricos e não resolvidos até os dias atuais, além da ligação natural com a filosofia da época. E, num último instante, reconhecer Apolônio e Euclides como os principais integrantes do, denominado por Pappus, Tesouro da Análise composto por 33 livros de 12 obras, que compõe o Livro VII, o mais importante da Coleção.
